We spoke about: (entirely nicked from Bianca Comfort’s linkedIn because I’m lazy) • What hypermobility is (HSD, hEDS and other types of EDS) • Why it often comes along with POTS/OI, MCAS, gut dysfunction, ME/CFS, long COVID, autism and ADHD. • Theories around why these conditions are linked • Paediatric diagnosis and red flags for hypermobility-related issues in children and adolescents • Preventative care and managing hypermobility in athletes We also highlighted the unfortunate but common issues people face navigating the medical system - from medical gaslighting, diagnostic overshadowing and delays, medical trauma, and being labelled a “difficult” or “heartsink” patient. On the flip side, we hope that building awareness of these conditions will improve patient outcomes and reduce diagnostic delays and medical gaslighting. If someone has multiple unexplained symptoms, there is likely something connecting them (spoiler alert: it's NOT anxiety or psychosomatic / "in your head" ).
